Can't believe its Monday again weekend went so fast, after school run Gemma and I went up the village we wanted the wool shop, library and charity shop were crafting things for Christmas we thought its so much nicer to gve homemade things as well as a main present then walk round shops buying things for the sake if it and people ending up with lots if the same things as everyone else's does the same thing. Well the library is closed on Mondays not good as we wanted patterns and books to make things we decided to meet up Mondays as Mondays are dull and craft in our 2 hours before fetching Olivia and ted from nursery. Wool shop not open till 10 well only one thing we can do is have a nice cup of tea in the village cafe and a natter, we are so excited about Chrisymas we sat giggling laughing planning and bubbling with excitement discussing Christmas had another cup of tea as realised we had finished the first and people were sitting in silence staring at us and not speaking to who they were with they seemed very bored with their company, one of my faults is I can't shut up I am permently excited and have always got something to say ( sorry to my family and friends I love you dearly and I am so excited to see you all that I can't help being on over drive) Charity shop opened and they had the knitting needles for 50p and patterns 20p there were beads and all sorts of crafts that people had through out and not wanted anymore we had heard on the village grapevine and went straight up there to raid the shop. Wool shop next I brought some crochet cotton and a small needle hook not sure on terminology for £5.50. We can't pick children up till 11.40 so went to spa cake shop and other little shops to kill time, went straight to the school got the little ones and ended up back at Gemma's to look at our goodies, went home had lunch and thought better do some housework before collecting brendyn. Had a lovely day was very busy and so glad I used my slow cooker to cook tea as I would never got around to it other wise we had homemade curry. Happy 80th birthday dad/grandad. We had a breakfast bar for breakfast as our meal was booked for 12, when we checked out. Went into granddad room wished him happy birthday Gave him his presents and stayed with him for a while, went back into our room and I crocheted on the bed while waiting to check out, packed everything up and tidyed room. 11.45 Stacey (sister in law) and I went over to set the table and take the cake to the staff that I had made. We set the table up lovely we were really pleased with it. Then ran back over to hotel as if we hadn't left the room, sat in reception area Waiting for the restaurant to open and Jenny to arrive, all had a lovely time and the food was nice. The staff were brilliant from letting us set the table up to the mess of the party poppers and the atmosphere where passes by kept wishing dad happy birthday it was perfect and I am glad it all went well for him. I was proud as a lady came by and wished him happy birthday and sai her husband likes sailing an is 80 in January and had he got the cake locally as she liked it, he said his daughter had made it for him. But I was proud that someone liked it outside the family, when friends and family say wow it's lovely you never know if they are just being kind or actually like it, so a strangers perspective was appreciated. We all had a lovely time and meal, children all sat talking and adults the same was lovely, they brought the cake out and we sang happy Birthday and I could relax all our planning had gone to plan we finished our drinks and all said our good byes. Went food shopping came home Had baths and watched a film. After breakfast we went to Coomb Abbey Park for a walk, Brendyn rode his bike and Olivia had her scooter. It's a beautiful autumn morning warm and sunny. Lovely place great for scooters or wheelchair only £3.79 to park we were there most the day so money well spent. There are donkey rides for £2. My pair didn't want to go as had bikes all had ice cream and play on a different park near shops, collected acorns and conkers all in all a very lovely time. Stopped of at a pub on way back children yard on this slide a blast from the past for me and Rich when we were little all or most pubs had these u dont are them very often so nice bit of reminiscing. We went back to our rooms to shower bath children and chill for a while before all meeting up for Tea, I did some crocheting. Had tea very full and tired from wine we piled Into to M&ds room I crocheted while everyone was talking then it was time for little ones to go to bed so we went back to our own rooms. Coventry premier inn is our home until we check out Sunday. Beautiful day We picked Brendyn up from school and travelled to premier inn with granddad cake balancing on my lap, every bump I had to make sure the cake didn't jump off my lap, it was not plane sailing! Sorry for the pun ( sailing cake). Everyone was really helpful at this restaurant and in the hotel, we find this helpful having 4 children (2 being my nephews) and my dad in his wheel chair any help we can get is appreciated. They made sure we were at a close table and could have the wheelchair there all very helpful. Lovely food recommended for people with kids as they can pick what they like. I was very impressed with Brendyn today, I said this morning remind me to cut your hair tonight, he got a piece of oaper wore a little note put it in his short pocket said ok mummy, got home this afternoon and said looking a his note" you have to cut my hair before beavers". Bless him he had reminded and yes I had co perky forgotten I was getting turkey burgers from the freezer pasta and sweet corn and throwing it all together for their quick tea for beavers. Usually my friend Joanne cuts his hair and he has a play with Ethan afterwards, but we have not had chance to meet each other and his hair is getting longer by the day, so i thought I will have a go considering I used to do rich's hand cut then razored. But the past few years he has been having it completely shaven grade 4 all over (think the grey hairs were showing) (sorry baby) :0) So I tried to have a go but he would not keep still said the hair was annoying him and Jo had for a proper cape etc, I think I made a hash of it but for first attempt wasn't too bad I suppose it will grow back but was still annoyed with myself and disappointed. Brendyns note. And thanks baby for my beautiful autumn flowers they make me smile every morning afternoon and night :0) Came home from school and iced dads cake, Gemma popped in for cup of tea she brought me a soup recipe book as I want to make my own homemade soup and a sail boat play dough cutter as I have been struggling to make little boats for dads cake. We collected Ted and Olivia and came home for lunch, spent the afternoon tidying Olivia's bedroom and as she has had a growth spurt I sorted out her leggings, pj's and trousers put them in my craft box to up cycle them to something. I am hoping to turn my table runner that now has candle stains on to something homemade and beautiful with appliqué techniques, depends on if my sewing machine is playing nicely so watch this space. Had a go with dads cake out some waves around the bottom and a blue ribbon I have not got any pictures yet as the house is so warm no heating on the cake was sweating so had to work on it fast and get it on the fridge also can't assembly it until on the hotel as it has to travel so again watch this space. Collected Brendyn made a hash of his hair and did their tea and then he went to Beavers. When he came home he was so excited he had a special Woggle which represented they had been going for 85 years. He was so pleased with itndragged me and Olivia in the lounge to close our eyes while he presented it to is bless him he such a beautiful little boy. I am slightly upset that I have been so busy lately with school and catching up with friends, which don't get me wrong is great then housework and the usual day to day chores and tasks life throws at you that I still haven't had chance to sit down and make anything. I am itching to make some more crochet items and have a thousand and one things jumping around excitedly in my brain to do and I just don't have 5 minutes. Last night I sat to watch emmerdale and I couldn't make anything then as I was too tired to concentrate on patterns and my phone kept buzzing for meet ups next week, which is lovely that I am being thought of by someone at that time but I seem to have a thousand things to do. I always make time for family and friends it's just a bit of juggle trying to fit everything in and I always work on a first come first served basis, mad I know! So staring at my diary trying to juggle Caroline, Jo and Kerry into the diary and do all the things I want to or need to, crocheting looks like its on the distant horizon I must manage my time better, but to be honest I drop Olivia off at nursery come home have 2 hours to do washing empty dishwasher clean 3 bathrooms, kitchen and make beds tidy rooms that I don't know where the time goes I gulp a cup of tea cold and rush out to get Olivia, come back in have quick tidy up again read to her do a jigsaw have quality time with her, and then it's time to get Brendyn. I do the same with him and then its tea time I start tea rich is home we eat, Bath kids, read them stories and put them in bed. And chill ax!! Sitting down watching soaps with a hot chocolate and having our time is all that we do. I feel at this point if I were to start crafting and do my own thing I miss out on being with Richard its the only time we get with each other before the whole day starts again. One big circle of life and I find the only thing you can do is balance everything, if I return to work next year I have no idea how I will fit that into the equation I admire people that manage to keep all these balls in the air I don't think I am that robust! This morning I didn't want to get out of bed I was snuggled under the duvet and so were the children normally they would have come up to us excitedly, but even they were reluctant to move. Rich however has to be out for 7.45 so he was up and had done their breakfast for them, which I usually do, had I have shaken a leg this morning, was very greatfull he rallied the troops Into ship shape condition for me to join them for breakfast, I think it's all the walking and fresh air I had yesterday. I spent the morning in reception class today in between helping the children here and there I labelled Some ties for the children and stamped some books with the school address on. I loved doing this when I was little I wanted to work in a library thought I Could sit all day and read books and then when needed could do the little stamp job and use the beepy machine, I loved going to the library when I was little it was so much fun. sat in the staff room having cup of tea feeling very out of place while the teachers nattered, them it was time to collect Olivia. Just spent the rest of the afternoon making bits and bins for dads cake, made the actual cake and left it to cool and collected Brendyn. There was a dog on the loose that was roaming around so we want to Gemmas had a cup of tea till we thought it had gone as her house is just around the corner, it was a Staffordshire bull terior and quite scary wasn't going to chance it coming near the children especially Olivia and ted as they are head level with it. Made spag bowl g bread for t, kids wen in the bath and did homework, they went to bed and I watched Kirsty Allsopp homemade home which left me buzzing with ideas of thins to make again and thats another day gone.
I am frustrated :0( last autumn I gave blood for the first time, I was very nervous and felt feint, the waiting time was nearly an hour sitting watching others on the beds and you can see everyone all in rows, I was about to go home as thought can't do this when on the radio they were playing announced a pile up on the motorway and there were lots of casualties and that was it I stayed and got called next. I did really well as much as I could but because my veins are small my vein collapsed and they had to change arms my blood came out really slowly and I only filled half a bag. They said it was because I was nervous and cold they had the fans on and doors open and it wasn't as warm as it is now and was raining so they said the blood wasn't wasted as they use it in drugs the cells are used elsewhere but not for a transfusion. I was annoyed with myself they said dont give up and your better in warm weather wait to the spring. Spring time came and from then on every day the people are in the community centre we have been going to a premier inn that weekend after picking brendyn up from school, looked last night and the next blood day is my birthday and a a selfish as it's sounds can't donate as cold again and I know I am wasting there time someone else could be dashed in give blood instead of them messing about with me, so I will have to wait until the spring now. I will not give up it's too important to me. My mum nearly lost my brother In childbirth she lost lots of blood through an emergency cesarean and had to have a transfusion. Previous to my brother being born my dad had had his accident and a few blood transfusions then later on my father in law needed one so at that point I kind if felt like I owed it to other people to do it, that people I loved had gone through life because of someone else so I will deffiently do this again. It's a beautiful sunny day today my washing is out I feel as if I am abroad quite a change from last week. I walked brendyns class to swimming was very hot and they all swam great, was proud of Brendyn he listened to daddy at the breakfast table while we trie not to laugh as daddy was demonstrating how to use his arm and breathing technique by blowing raspberry in the imaginary water, was very funny and kept me smiling for the rest of the morning. Anyway it worked and he did great we smiled accross the pool thinking of daddy. Got back and walked to the Methodist church for coffee and cake morning, it was tea cakes today you get both for £1. Bargain! I needed them to had 40 minutes sit down and chat with my friends Karen, Jo, Julie, came back with Jo in the car to nursery, bless her she took us back to after all the walking was very great full. Cleaned the cupboard in our en suite it had bottles and rubbish in there that have been siting un used. I pruned the dead heads of the buddleia tree and got our garden wheely bin nack fo where the bin men had left it. Were lucky with wheely bins as we have the garden one outside the back gate gets wheeled to one bin store. And then the everyday bin is a grey wheely bin emptied every week, the green one is for recycling this one gets full weekly but not emptied till fortnightly it's amazing that we have 3 bins and still manage to have lots of rubbish. I am going to make dads cake now for Sunday he's 80. Always jobs to do got to empty dishwasher and tidy up from lunch first, luckily no going out to get Brendyn today as Becky is getting him with James after football be back at 4.45. Nothing ever goes to plan in the middle of making dads decorations for cake I get a call from school to day brendyn didn't feel very well tired after swimming and could he come home, our friend took him to their house and I met up with them to bring him back after he had a play with Toby, by the one we came back and they had changed out of school clothes washed hands it was time to start tea. This is what I made for tea was quite quick fried the chicken and chorizo added chopped tomatoes and tomato purree the packet mix, added into a dish breadcrumbs and grated cheese on top, into the oven and then served with garlic bread and salad. My plate isn't gourmet or posh it's just quickly slapped up while the kids shout I am starved. Olivia enjoyed nursery today she came out big smiles and had a head teachers award for writing her name by herself no dots so mummy was very proud. A head teachers award at our school is when the teacher picks a child from the class that sees the head teacher and she gives them a shiny sticker saying head teachers award, they also get mentioned in assembly Friday for exceptional work, they are rare and special and I didn't expect one for her in the first full week. Brendyn came out of school grumpy someone had moved and dropped his lunchbox, I am sure he has OCD he really panics about cleanliness and as much as I want the house spotless and clean you still have to live in it and "be normal" but if Olivia has chocolate on her hands bless him he runs around after her with a cloth. So he wasn't very happy that this contains his food that enters his body and it has germs on it I explained I would detail it as I do daily and it would also go thru the washing machine if he was that concerned. So tomorrow he has his moshi monster lunch box. Luckily Olivia ran to him and said about her award and he was so pleased for her he picked her up swing her round and was as excited as if he had had it ran round telling his friends bless him he loves her so much he couldn't love her anymore if he tried. When he got home he said tell you what you can go on my Disney car games on the wii as your such a big girl and she hadn't a clue but he sat patient with her so I was proud of him to, I love my children so much it hurts. Well done Olivia we are all so proud of you. Well done Brendyn for being a fantastic big brother. Olivia helped me cook tea or should I say dropped half the rice everywhere splashed the water around the saucepan instead of stiring it and made more mess for mummy to clean up, I don't mind she had fun she even helped me pull the chicken off the carcus and put it in the pan add the curry sauce jar for quickness and stir it before I actually but the gas on. While at my parents yesterday they gave us this lamp, it's not quite an antique but is at least 60 years old that we know to. It was my grandmothers the children's great grandmothers my fathers mothers. She brought it from Beaties and the shade is silk, the stem is real wood. My dad didn't want this anymore as 1. Didn't work the wiring in it had broke, the too of the lamp had broke and become crooked and twisted. And 2 because he has had it for so long he doesn't want to look at it anymore. Sorry dad close your eyes when you come round. Richard cleverly fixed the top as this was quite old, he re wired it only costing £3.50. Bargain! And straightened the crookedness even managing to put an energy saving bulb in it as our lounge is quite dark only have windows in dining room so the lights need to be on from 4pm till bedtime at the minute. It looks so cosy and old fashioned we Are hoping to watch Downton Abby which I love so bringing old things into the house now I treasure and love the history furniture can bring. Also it's nice to know dad had this lamp through his childhood through my childhood and now through my children's childhood so it's sentimental I was so pleased when I asked Rich if he would mind it in the lounge that he said it would look lovely and he will sort it out for me. He now also has another Lamp to sort for mum, now she knows its possible. (Sorry rich always a job) We did think of re covering and making a homemade lamp shade but considering it matches the settee cushions have left it or now I am worried that if we change it or mess with it the old ness will have been taken from it. Richard cut the lawn today we can't believe how much it has grown and what a warm day it is. It was lovely to hang the washing out again have been using the dryer since the weather went cold. I had the oven on roasting a chicken smelt lovely but was 26 degrees in the dining room and no idea how hot it was in the kitchen quite funny that yesterday we were making house cosy and counting the days down to Christmas. We had the Sunday roast for tea and Richard racked the wine back into Demi johns this was a long slow process but he is very patient and did it well, we had a sneaky taste and it's very yummy might be a bit sweet for Rich so might have to adjust the recipe next time. First demijohn ready. This will Still sit as it is with the bubbles and scientific bits on the top until it is ready to be filtered into wine bottles, that will be the exciting part to see the end result. The demijohns are all lined up but I am a bit worried as they don't seem to be bubbling, dad said they should start in a day or two so hang on in there. Brendyn is at Libbies birthday party they are playing at her house then going to McDonald's, he was very excited as she has lots of animals 2 dogs 2 cats 2 chinellas and lots of other animals luckily they have a large house and plenty of land to home all these animals, its such a clean house to, Brendyn said they are in different areas through your the garden and under shelters so its like a zoo. We went shopping while he is at the party and brought the cream stove. We have been after one since January last year and gave up as spring came in the sales they were all black and as we have black granite it wouldn't have gone, would look lost on it. Richard painted the wall where the old fire had been and put the stove in place it looked fantastic like it had always been there I was so pleased that we waited since January for the cream, it looked like Kirsty Allsopp had come on with one from a car boot and shabby chic it To make it look Modern and old. We still might change it in the future to gas but as yet haven't found one and also I want the look all year not just as and when it's on for the cold Also being a new house it's very got anyway we haven't got any heating on this week as it's so warm and if we do put it on To come out the bath so children are warm the house is too hot. So for now I am enjoying the cosy look. The irony out the blue today is scorching 25 degrees on the dining room so trying toget the lounge ready for Christmas and washing outside on the line and it feeling like summer is bizar. We collected brendyn and went to mum and dads. We wanted to visit Jenny and see aunty Scarlett but by the time we get there 3pm Ish they will have been out for the day and back to the station, never mind can meet up soon. I cut mums hair and we had a Chinese set back him at 7 ish. |
